Class 6B

Hello and welcome to 6B!

My name is Miss Barrington, and I am your child’s class teacher. We are very fortunate to have Mrs Maguire, our lovely, experienced teaching assistant working with us in Year 6 too. Mr Nutter is 6N’s teacher and both our classes are in the brilliant Year 6 block!

We have already made a great start in 6B, and we have a fun filled year planned. I am sure this will be an amazing final year at Park View Primary for the Year 6 children, and I know they are going to work incredibly hard to achieve their best!

On our class page you will find information about the exciting topics we do and details of the routines that will take place throughout the school year. If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to contact me. I will also share regular updates and photos of our achievements on our school Twitter page!  #ParkViewPV

Autumn term topic - World War 2

Please look at our topic home learning menu for lots of activity ideas for children to complete at home!

PE - Our PE lesson is on a Wednesday with the sports coach. Children are to come into school wearing their PE kit (white t-shirt, black shorts/leggings, and trainers).

Reading - Children should be reading daily at home and should keep their reading record/book in their school bag. Reading records will be checked weekly, and children can change their books when needed. Children can choose a book from the library, and they can read this at home too.

Homework - Homework is handed out on a weekly basis. Children will be given English and Maths homework on a Friday, and this is to be returned the following Friday. We have homework club on Tuesday and Thursday lunchtime. If children do not return their homework, they will be asked to complete this during Golden Time on Friday.

Spellings - Spellings are handed out on Friday to be tested the following Thursday. Children are given time to learn their spellings in school, however, are encouraged to practise these at home too.

Times tables - Having a secure knowledge of times tables facts (up to 12x12) supports children significantly with their maths is learning. Children are therefore, encouraged to practise their times tables frequently. All children have access to Times Tables Rockstars, this is a brilliant resource to support their learning. Times tables will be tested each Wednesday.
